We are here for you, when you need local spider control. Living in Pennsylvania means you will be seeing your fair share of spiders. Here are three that you will commonly find inside of your home.

Red Spider in Pennsylvania

The most common red spider in Pennsylvania is called the Woodlouse Hunter. It has a red body, with a tan abdomen. One of the most common places to find this red spider is in your basement or outside ion your flowerbeds. Woodlouse Hunter spiders love to eat pill bugs (also called sow bugs or roly-polys). Wherever you find pill bugs, you will find Woodlouse Hunter spiders. These spiders can bite you, but their bites are not medically significant. If you do get bitten, you are going to experience severe itching, and some localized pain.

Brown Spiders in Pennsylvania

Most spiders will only bite you if they feel threatened. This is not true about the Sac spider. This little tan spider will bite you for no reason. If you decide to take a nap, and a Sac spider decides to crawl across your bare skin, you chance of getting bit is extremely high. Sac spiders get their name from the little web sleeping bags they create on your walls. They especially love the area where your walls meet your ceiling. If you get bit, you are going to feel a sharp burning pain that can last for an hour or two. In some cases, you might even develop a rash with slight blistering around the bite site.

Black Spiders in Pennsylvania

It doesn’t take much to identify a Black Widow spider. They have a shiny black body, which is oversized compared to its long spindly legs. Most Black Widows have a telltale red hour glass shape on the underside of their body. Their webs look like haphazard creations of silk and debris. Black Widow bites contain neurotoxins that cause interference with your body’s ability to transmit neurological messages. Their bites are medically significant. If you get bit by a Black widow you should go to the hospital. At first, the bite won’t be painful, but after a few hours you are going to experience severe muscle cramps, nausea, chills, aches, and difficult breathing. While their bites are rarely fatal, you should still take it serious.
