General Information:
Centipedes vary in length depending on species. They can be anywhere from ½ inch to 15 inches in length. Don’t worry though, the 15 inch centipedes do not live in the US. Household centipedes are anywhere from ½ inch to 1.5 inches in length. They prefer moist environments like bathrooms, kitchens and basements and can live for several years. The difference between a centipede and a millipede is that each body segment with a centipede has on pair of legs while a millipede has 2 pairs. As far as the number of legs, it does vary. Some centipedes have as few as 17 pairs while others have as many as 171 pairs of legs. They are carnivorous and eat smaller insects.
